The 1st death is death apart from God. Satan 1st {[(... and his cohorts, transgressors of the law, this world, and "death" itself)]}.

The first death ever recorded in the bible was that of faith and trust. When Adam's and Eve's faith and trust died, they fell out of glory with God. That marked the beginning of man's troubles

Faith and trust are were certainly killed by disobedience.. but they are concepts and the answer I was looking for was a literal death of someone/something.

Adan and Eve and their broken trust would of been my answer too.  Trust is a thing.  I suppose you are really after person, animal or plant?

If you are referring to the death of something, then the first death was of the animal skin used to cover Adam and Eve... (Genesis 3:21)ESV:  And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.

  6. boyatdelhi profile image52

And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;    but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,  for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

When they ate from the  tree of the knowledge, their spiritual death happened.

So the death of Eve could be the first death in the Bible.

God made cloths for Adam and Eve.  so God killed an animal and take out the skin and made cloths for Adam and Eve.

So the first physical death could be that of an animal by God for making cloths for Adam and Eve.

    Is it correct?

    Is it correct?

      You got it...
The First Physical Death was the death of the Animal that God killed to Cover their sin... a Sacrifice was made and that animal became a covering for their nakedness.  The Second death was another animal Abel's Sacrifice. and #3 Abel

That was an awesome question, and definitely one that makes a person think.  It also probably made some people search out their bible to find the answer.

I agree! The Bible is SPIRITUAL making the first DEATH Satan (Ezk28) who was thrown to earth (KILLED) but these ppl only see kitty cat skins who GOD gave DOMINION (Gen1:26)to man to treat ANY WAY he pleases for they are our helpers! We eat them rt?

there was no death on earth before Adam disobeyed God.   The first death was Adam's death (separation from God).  It is the ONLY death with eternal consequences.   It is also the death that Jesus came to undo.  no other is important

Animals don't have a "soul!"  Doesn't count in the "Bible!"  If we have "dominion" over them, GOD certainly does!

The first human killing was when Cain killed Abel because he was jealous that God accepted Abel's offering but would not accept Cain's. Or, since you did not say human death, you might be referring to when God killed some animals to clothe Adam and Eve after they found out they were naked.

Yes the first Human killing... But this is actually the third death recorded... :-)

The first death of something would be the forbidden fruit that was picked from the tree.  Then the second death would be the animal that Cain offered to God. Then the third would be Cain who killed his brother Abel.

While it is true that Adam and Eve started to die when they disobeyed God they did not experience the death until hundreds of years later... I am asking of things with the breath of life in them.. Mammals if you will...not plant matter or concepts..

Ok, thank you for clarifying that. The first death came from the skin of animals to cover Adam and Eve, the second was from the offering of his flock of animal, then the third would be Abel.

First to include the right answer in his post was: boyatdelhi

    My Answer:
The First Physical Death was the death of the Animal that God killed to Cover their sin... a Sacrifice was made and that animal became a Coat for covering for their nakedness.

The Second death was another animal Abel's Sacrifice.

    and #3 Was Abel himself.

    Very good... thanks all...
Hope you had fun.. See you at the next Question:-)

The first "recorded" death in the Bible was the death of Abel (Genesis 4). He was murdered by his brother Cain who killed him out of jealousy and a false sense of personal honor.

The first "implied" death is the slaying of some type of animal from which God could make the first coverings for Adam and Eve. The LORD did this after Adam and Eve sinned against God in the garden of Eden (Genesis 3). That LORD sacrificed an animal to make garments for Adam and Eve was a physical sign that sin leads to death. Some Bible and Christian scholars and teachers attempt to show that that original sacrifice was/is a picture of the sacrificial system and ultimately a link to the Lamb of God who would come into the world and sacrifice himself on the cross to cover unrighteous sinful man in the righteousness of God.

      2 sacrifice of Abel
      3 Death of Abel

the First Death was of Adam and Eve.  "Adam lived for 930 years and died" The Word CLEARLY tells us that "in the day that you eat the fruit thereof you SHALL surely die."
While it may be true their physical bodies took a while in human perspective... Ps.90:4 tells us that  "a thousand years in Your sight are but as yesterday when it is past".
In that immediate past, the animals were killed to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve, and then, Able was killed by his Brother, Cain.
Can you be a little more specific?

The first death I would believe is long before the animals or of Adam and Eves Flesh bodies or Abel's flesh body.

The First death in my understanding would be the Death of Repentance caused By the fallen Angels, the Second of the truth of GOD (of who GOD is) concealed by the Fallen Angels. The Third death was the Murdering of Adam and Eves Eternal Life.

*At that point in Time they were not yet Flesh.
The Coverings (Skin) they received were indeed the same that we all call are Birthday suits today. The Flesh. For they were in the Garden as Spiritual Beings made from the Dust of the Former and fallen Heaven or Earth one or the other.

*For God was able to be in their presence and walk with them in this Garden.

Which one I am not totally sure of. In my mind it would have been the fallen Heaven's dust that they were made from.

*For it is Known That Satan the Devil Is the First Liar, Thief, and Murder.
and In such things he has committed them all while still in his GOD given Body. or a Spiritual Body. The Very Title of Death is also one of Lucifer's Many Names.

There is also an angel proposed as an angel of death that is not Satan, but an angel of GOD's this Angel is a Spirit Being or one that posses only a spiritual body. The one God sent to do the bidding of Pharaoh's that every first born be struck Down. But On careful deduction this very well could have also been Lucifer that was commanded by GOD to do.

I certainly AGREE w/your 1st statement! The FIRST DEATH occurred long before the Garden (Ezk28;Is14:12-14)!  These people are "too carnal" when the Bible is ALL SPIRITUAL (Jn4:23-24)! All the author sees is animal cruelty & defies WORD (Gen1:26)!

Hello! To me the first death was when Eve ate the fruit of the forbidden tree and what Adam also ate. That was the first death, the Sin. I know it has nothing to do with killing or sacrifice or blood sheds. But that was the first death, the start of man's sinful nature. Before sin entered the world, there was no death. Adam and Eve could live forever if they did not sin. Okay, who killed them? It was God. He was the one who cut the direct communication between Him and Adam. And the reason? SIN. I am hoping this answers the question...MOre power!

The death of innocence, that came with the first bite of knowledge, human selfishness killed it, because it is irresistible.
Death of unity with God, to focus on the death of categories under God.

I say it is the death of Adam &Eve its self. because they are driven from paradise to earth ,in that case they died in heaven and take birth in earth.

The first physical death in the Bible was that of Abel who was murdered by his brother (Genesis 4:16)

Adam and Even began to die immediately when they sinned by disobeying God (Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:1-6)

  22. profile image52
    Norine Williamsposted 7 years ago

The question asked "What was the first 'Death' in the Bible?" and did not specify physical nor spiritual!  Therefore, the "First Death in the Bible" was the Death of Lucifer (spiritual) and GOD killed him because "...he set his heart as the heart of GOD" (Ezekiel 28:6; Isaiah 14:12-14).

Ezekiel 28:16 "...thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of GOD: and I will destroy thee..."

When Adam and Eve 'fell,' we joined him giving us "the nature of sin' also!

All this stuff about animals have no significance!  GOD didn't create animals for us to love as a child but for our helpers!  I Corinthians 15:39-40 says "All flesh is not the same flesh:  but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds" of which none has a "soul" but man (Genesis 2:7).  GOD gave man "dominion over all creeping things on earth" (Genesis 1:26) and to love the flesh of a fish as one does the flesh of a man defies GOD!

Then you turn around and eat animals!  Hypocrites!
